Covid update: LATEST -Tier 4
From Sunday 20th December 2020 the club went into government tier 4 restrictions.
The Club is now closed for organised activities; the clubhouse and changing rooms are closed to members and there is no racing until further notice.
Unfortunately, you may NOT leisure sail or windsurf as had been the case with previous restrictions.
For full details see here.
Watch this site for any more detailed information or changes to the restrictions or rules which may alter what activities are possible.
And on top of everything else......
CRT (The Canal and River Trust) which is responsible for the Welsh Harp resevoir are lowering the water by up to 1.2m from 11 January 2021 until 22 February. Unfortunately, this will make launching boats a near impossibility and, therefore, also sailing on the Harp. The draining is to enable maintenance of the sub-structure of the machine house which controls the dam sluice gates.
An award for our Sailing Captain Steve
Steve has been awarded a GP14 Super Award by the GP14 International Class Association as someone who has gone above and beyond to support GP14 sailors at any level during this year - and what a year to need support.
Well done Steve

GP 14 Southern Travellers - WHSC Victor Trophy
Saturday 24th October 2020
The
Victor Trophy was contested by sixteen crews in testing conditions culminating in 25 knot gusts, and short sharp showers. Four races were closely fought back to back save for a short break for on -the-water snacks. A Committee Boat peppered in red and green meant a challenging course - set by Race Officer and resident sailing guru -Norman Brown - that included two long beats and a ripping reach, making the most of the predominately SSW wind cutting across the lake.
While capsizes were frequent and frequently spectacular, Covid concious safety crews kept everybody safe. Despite periodic bouts of weather induced chaos visitors Sam Watson and James Hockey (Nantwich SC & Lough Foyle SC) closely followed by James Goodfellow and Richard Cornes (Harwich SC & Burghfield SC), serenely dominated proceedings, with our own Commodore Maciek Matyjaszczuk and Chris Lomax taking well earned third place honours.

Sailing

Racing: Regular racing takes the form of class racing - boats race only against their own kind. This makes for bigger, better fleets. WHSC racing classes are the GP14 and the Laser. Club members participate both here and at other venues.
