Race Report - Sat 22 Feb
The last day of the winter series and we had some sailable weather (both races were sailed!). A good breeze and some sun shine. What else do we want?
Roger as OOD set out some good courses (1-2-5-8 and 1-2-5-6) where the runs included a mandatory gybe. There were some traffic jams at the marks (see picture). One of the GP14s tried to move the mark with its main sheet while another one tried to move the committee boat (rudder behind anchor chain). There may have been a higher level plan, but both manoeuvres are not a good idea and turned out to have a bad impact on the race results. It was great to see a new GP14 from Wembley joining us.
Anyway, we had 20 GP14s and 4 Lasers on the water. Now the results:
Laser: Richard B
All well done! As per the race structure we implemented when we merged the two clubs into the WHSC, when the helm/crew do not sail as per the sign on sheet and fail to correct this afterwards (or tell the Race Office/OOD), the sailors will be disqualified (hence you’ll see a couple of disqualifications in the Bronze list).
