Saturday 7th February 15
The day started with Rodger's morning training, assisted by Mark and Alain, a few tacks and sprinkling of gybes and some well received guidances, tips and help. Video next Saturday at 11. Thank you to Rodger, Mark and Alain.
Race 1 kicked off with the light winds with a few weighty gusts, wind varying North and North East, the course was set 1,4,3,6,5,2. It was well behaved start with no one over. Maurice in the laser got off to a blistering start leaving the fleet in his wake and easily taking line honours. The first GP home was Rodger and Yvon, a commanding performance even with the slight detour after mark 5. 2nd was Ian and Peter, the morning's training seemed to have inspired Ian and once he got to the front of the fleet he was not going to be moved, 3rd place went to Craig and Brian.
Race 2, the wind dropped a little for the second race, the course was changed to 3,4,6,2. From our vantage point on the committee board, the 'HMS Ice cube' another remarkably well behaved start. The fleet kept together on the beat and the first downwind leg but soon spread out a bit. Two laps and 40 odd minutes later Sophie and Jim would cross the line victorious in 2nd Peter and Daphne with Rebecca and Lesley rounding out the top three GPs. Mahmood was the first laser home.
After the race and once the boats where safely back snug under their covers it was tea and homemade rock cakes back in the warmth of the club house. Thanks Craig & Brian.
